Guildelines/Limitations

The Cole Foundation primarily funds organizations who serve residents of the four Northeast Indiana counties of DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben in the following areas of interest:

  • Economic Development
    • Job creation
    • Talent retention
    • Education
  • Youth Development
  • Parks, Conservation and Public Recreation
  • Art and Culture Presentations

Limitations

Applications for grants are considered only from those organizations which have been ruled tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and which also qualify as a 509 (a) public charity.

Loans or cash grants cannot be made to private individuals. The Foundation does not make grants to or for the influencing of legislation or elections. Virtually all grant money is awarded to charitable entities. We do not assist individuals with personal or business-related finances. Normally, the Foundation does not make grants to religious organizations, to endowments, or to national fund drives. The Foundation does not encourage grants where the Foundation is asked to fund the entire project.
